Problem
Most teams have ZERO qualification process within their lead list building workflow.
Here’s what the average workflow looks like:

> Export contacts from Apollo
> Import list into verification tool
> Import verified list into campaign
> Launch
You likely fit under this category.
If you do, likely only 50% of your list actually fits your ICP.
That means you’re wasting 50% of your available outbound volume on unqualified leads.
You’re essentially cutting your outbound revenue in HALF.
Safe to say this is a top priority problem to fix.
So here’s a walkthrough of the qualification workflow we use that you can replicate:

Now that you’ve signed up, there’s going to 2 columns you’re going to add to every lead list table you build moving forward:

Here’s how you’ll go about prompting these:

Thankfully, Clay has a neat feature that has AI create the AI prompts for you tailored to the columns in your table shown here when using the “Use AI” enrichment column option:

So for this prompt, I’m actually going to give you the prompt for creating the prompt (prompt-ception).
In this section, add this prompt:
“Perform research on each company and provide a thorough summary to feed another AI Agent for company qualification purposes. Go through the company’s LinkedIn, website, and any other public data that is relevant to understanding whether the company is qualified or not. We are NOT qualifying the company here, just generating a thorough summary of the company.”
Add this prompt to the box then hit “Generate”.
This is what the final prompt will look like when generated:

For this AI use case, we want to make sure we have web research enabled as research will be performed.
Now moving on to the next prompt.
ICP Analysis Agent (Text)
Now for this prompt, it’ll serve as an agent that qualifies each company using the available data on the table.
This prompt for each table will require your insight on what your ICP is defined as.
So you need to do 2 things:
Define exactly what your ICP is
Define exactly what your ICP is NOT
Defining both are essential to accuracy, can’t just say what ICP is since AI without guardrails for what it isn’t or else AI will start hallucinating.
So within the prompt generator, use the following prompt:
“You are an ICP qualification agent. You’re mission is to run thorough qualification on companies using the available data on this table to generate a conclusion based on the qualification criteria that’s been presented to you. Here is the qualification data:
What qualifies as ICP:
{ADD ICP INFO}
What DOES NOT qualify as ICP:
{ADD DISQUALIFICATION INFO}”
The more context you add, the more accurate the agent will be.
From here, the prompt will use the data from the company summary generated in the last step + all of the other remaining data on the table.
When running this workflow, our lists have consistently seen 90%+ qualification rates vs the typical 50-60% you get from scraping off traditional platforms.
This allows us to maximize volume on QUALITY prospects, not just blasting random contacts hoping for them to be qualified.
